Spring Turn-on of the underground lawn sprinkler system consists of:
|
 |
In March, a notice is sent out to each customer reminding them
to call for their appointment for the spring turn on.
We do have an automatic turn on list in which we contact the
customer. If you would like to be added to this list, please
notify our office.
Spring Turn-on procedure consists of: adjusting valves on vacuum
breaker backflow prevent or to the proper positions, turning on
inside main water supply valve to the system, slowly
pressurizing mainline. Check mainline, zone piping, sprinkler
heads, timer, electric underground zone valves & wiring, and
Rain Sensor device for any possible problems.
If any type of repairs are needed, the owner is notified.
After all or any repairs are made to the system, we would clean
debris or grass over growth from inside and around all sprinkler
heads and valve box housings as needed. We would then make sure
all sprinkler heads are adjusted properly and set up the timer
so that the system operates at maximum efficiency. |

Types of Repairs to
Underground Lawn Sprinkler System:
|
Repairs consist of the following: Replacement of worn out or
damaged sprinkler heads, 24v electric zone valves, 24v direct
burial multi strand valve wiring, backflow vacuum breaker unit,
brass mainline shut off valves, copper piping, pvc piping,
polyethylene piping, above and below ground fittings, timers,
Rain Sensors, above and below ground fittings, replacement of
worn out underground valve box housings.

Upgrades to Underground Lawn
Sprinkler System:
|
Raising and relocating sprinkler heads due to plant growth over
the years blocking water spray from sprinkler heads. This in
turn causes areas of the property to not receive proper amounts
of water.
Removing and replacing old sprinkler heads that are inefficient
with new sprinkler heads that are more water efficient.
Adding sprinkler heads or drip irrigation to already established
zones or installing complete new zones which are sometimes
needed due to new landscaping being installed in areas of the
property that have no sprinkler system.
Installing new updated city code pressure type vacuum breaker
unit in place of old out dated non code atmospheric style vacuum
breaker units.
Converting old underground manual zone valves over to new 24v
electric zone valves, along with a new timer, underground 24v
multi strand valve wiring.
Installation of Rain Sensor device. This device connects into
the electrical part of the underground lawn sprinkler system.
This device measures rainfall. When activated due to a certain
amount of rainfall, the Rain Sensor will shut down the complete
sprinkler system for one to two days depending on the amount of
rainfall. When the sensor dries up, the sprinkler system goes
back into automatic operation.

Fall Winterizing of the
Underground Lawn Sprinkler System: |
In September, a notice is sent out to each customer reminding
them to call for their appointment for the fall winterizing.
We do have an automatic winterizing list in which we contact the
customer. If you would like to be added to this list, please
notify our office.
Fall Winterizing of the system consists of: adjusting valves on
the vacuum breaker backflow preventor to the proper positions.
Shutting off main water supply valve to system. Connecting air
line hose from our air compressor to a connection usually
located near the outside vacuum breaker unit which is connected
into the mainline of the system.
Note: There are times when there are no open connections to the
mainline on outside of house/building for us to hook up our
airline. In this case, we may have to run an airline into the
basement and connect to a mainline fitting on the system.
We then turn on each zone to the system, pumping compressed air
through each zone which blows and clears each zone of water.
During this process, we take note of any problems that we may
find with the system. The problems then would be told to the
customer and also noted on a repair list. The list would be
referred to in the spring for repairs needed.
When the winterizing of the system is complete, we then put
timer in the "off" position. We also leave any drain connections
on or near the vacuum breaker unit open during the winter months
for additional precautions to prevent winter freeze damage.
